Special Handling
The red stoppered tube should be allowed to clot before centrifuging. Specimens should be centrifuged at 3500 RPM for 10 minutes. Serum should be separated from the cells within 2 hours and transferred to an appropriately labeled tube.
Rejection Criteria
Specimens collected in anything but a red top tube. NO gel separator tubes. Specimens exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
