Additional Information
Preferred testing for herpes simplex virus (HSV) when exposure to HSV is suspected. May be useful in identifying a subclinical HSV infection. If results are positive for HSV type 1/2 combined antibodies but negative for both type-specific antibodies, follow-up testing at least one month later is recommended because glycoprotein antibodies may require 3-6 months to form; refer to Herpes Simplex Type 1 and Type 2 Glycoprotein G-Specific Antibodies, IgG by CIA.
