Breast-fed babies require alternative testing by gram stain method due to human milk containing lactoferrin which may cause false positive results. Add in order comment 'breast-fed baby, test by gram stain method'. Fresh stool preferred to stool in Cary Blair transport media which must be added to full line mark on transport vial for testing within 72 hours.
