Special Handling
Separate serum cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. If using a Red top tube, transfer serum to a standard transport tube. Critical frozen. Additional specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. If freezing cannot occur within 30 minutes of cell seperation, send this specimen directly to the lab.
Rejection Criteria
Refrigerated specimens. Contaminated or heat inactivated specimens.
Stability
After separation from cells: Ambient: 30 minutes; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 1 year
