Collect
SST; Also Acceptable: Plain red top, lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (sodium or lithium heparin).
Submit
2 - 0.5 mL aliquots (Min: 0.25 mL/container), Serum or Plasma, Frozen.
Special Handling
Separate serum or plasma cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 0.5 mL serum or plasma in two transport tubes and freeze immediately. CRITICAL FROZEN. Additional specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
Rejection Criteria
Refrigerated or room temperature specimens.
Stability
After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 6 months
