Special Handling
Allow serum specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP. If collecting a red top tube, remove and transfer the serum to a transfer tube. If not transported to lab the same day as collected, aliquot the sample. Fasting specimen preferred. Must have age of patient.
