Special Handling
Allow blood to clot for 30 – 40 minutes, but not longer than 60 minutes. Transfer serum to a metal free transport tube. Do not use utensils (i.e., syringes, needles) during the transfer of the sample.
Rejection Criteria
Patients that have recently had a procedure with involved barium intake are unacceptable.
