Additional Information: Sent to Nichols reference lab Specific directions for Hemostasis/Thrombosis specimen collection 1. Obtain specimen by venous puncture. Do not use smaller than 23 gauge needle. Do not leave tourniquet on for extended time. 2. Draw pilot tube (light blue or red) discard. 3. Fill light blue tube as far as vacuum will allow. Mix by gentle inversion. 4. Centrifuge the specimen at 1700xg for 15 minutes. Note: Hemolyzed specimens will be rejected. 5. Immediately remove the top 2/3 of the plasma and transfer to a clean tube using a plastic transfer pipette. 6. Immediately label the tube with the patient name, citrated plasma, and freeze the plasma. Specimens must remain frozen during transport to lab. Sent to reference lab (Nichols)
