Additional Information: Tissue, pus, purulent fluid, respiratory specimens, body fluid or any body site or fluid, skin biopsy. Collect in a sterile container or a Culturette swab. Indicate suspected organism(s) on the test request form. Additional patient history may be helpful. Include the patients occupation, history of travel or residence abroad, and any animal contact. Media is available for direct inoculation. If CSF cannot be transported with 8 hours, hold CSF at 35 degrees centigrade until the time of transport.
